Workshops

Christianity in the work place
The question "What am I doing here?" or, perhaps from a graduating senior "Where do I go from here?" reverberates in our minds like the intrusion of a booming bass from someone's car radio. In this workshop we will meet staff and working professionals from Priority Associates and hear what they have to share about some of the tools that can help you integrate your professional and personal/spiritual lives. Personal leadership develops from the inside out. At the core of all we do is our value system, what some call our "center" or "true
north". Come learn and network with a ministry that is located over 20 cities in the States on how they are living to be the salt and the light in their work places and how we can maximize our impact on those we rub shoulders with daily.

Characteristics of Christ-like Relationships
God created us to be in relationship with others and in this seminar you will learn keys to building healthy Christ-like relationships. You will gain insight into characteristics that will build a solid foundation for your relational future. Whether you are single, dating or married, this seminar will assist you in how to effectively plant seeds that will grow your relationships.

Dealing with burn out
"Are you feeling burnt out and tired from ministry? Does the word "ministry" itself conjure feelings of dread? In today's fast paced world, serving in church can sometimes move faster and become more burdensome than our ability to keep up. What can we do about feelings of depression and discouragement? This workshop will offer
a safe place to be yourself and practical ways to find God's rest."

Training Young Leaders
Many of us in church leadership got involved because we were faithful, not because someone trained us or invested in our lives. The thought, then, of training younger leaders is daunting. How do we give what we haven't received? In this workshop we'll learn about building a leadership community that learns together, and we'll look at ways to rethink leadership. We'll address topics such as authority, friendship, and passion. We'll also try to address your specific concerns.

Leading Effective Bible Studies
Do you hope for more from Bible Study? Do you want to lead Bible Studies more effectively and see more fruit? In this workshop, we'll explore concepts and methods which will equip both the novice Bible Study leader as well as the most experienced leader. We'll look at:
(1) The goals in leading Bible study
(2) Leading fruitful and fun discussions
(3) Transforming lives through Bible Study
(4) Contextualizing Scripture for Taiwanese young adults
(5) and Trouble-shooting disastrous Bible studies.

Following Jesus without Dishonoring Your Taiwanese Parents
Should I obey God or my parents? How can I both honor my parents and obey God's calling in my life? How can I help counsel my friend through this process?

This workshop is both for those struggling with this issue and for those who lead young adults with these challenging issues. We'll cover the following:
(1) Explore the tensions we often face with parents as Taiwanese Americans
(2) Define what is means to follow Jesus wholeheartedly and honor our parents
(3) Offers biblical models for making decisions and discerning God's will
(4) Gives practical suggestions for loving Jesus and honoring our Taiwanese parents
(5) Give suggestions for counseling others through these issues

Asian American Identity
Following Jesus affects all aspects of our lives. Our ethnic identity - as Taiwanese Americans and/or Asian Americans affects our whole lives too. Whether or not you've thought about the impact of ethnicity - come explore how it affects your life, work, relationships, and faith. You'll learn about God's special care and use of bi-cultural people in Scripture, strengths and growth areas of your culture(s), and how you can more fully glorify God as you grow in ethnic identity.
